Cast your bread upon the waters

I received a phone call about 9.30 this morning. It was a journalist I introduced myself to on 13 July just after I qualified as a Media Liaison Officer for SES. Shaun was keen to find out whether my SES unit had been active with windstorm jobs over the last few days. Fortunately, I had the facts at my fingertips – 31 jobs on Friday, 8 on Saturday, 4 on Sunday. Jobs covered the full spectrum – trees over houses, fences, backyards, driveways, cars, footpaths and roads. In short, we’d been busy. I suppose I only have myself to blame. I guess that’s what happens when you give a journalist your Media Liaison Officer card. At some point, he’ll be tempted to call the phone number printed on it when he’s chasing a story.
